Staircase locks

by Allan
(Sydney)

Hi Canal folk everywhere.

The term staircase locks. I think it means one lock after another?
We will be off for our first trip next April, and come accross a "staircase " pretty quickly, will there be a lock attendand there?

Thanks for your question Allan!
Generally there is a lock keeper at the staircase locks. At Foxton, Watford and usually Grindley Brook we have found keepers there. Get a hold of a Pearsons Guide for the latest on the canal you are travelling. And if when you arrive at the staircase no lock keeper is visible, there are plenty of other boaters around to give you a hand!
